Changing Your Perspective
I hate Jimmy Buffett!
I should clarify, I hate Jimmy Buffet’s music, not the man. I have never met him, I’m quite sure he is a very nice person. But his music cuts right through me. However, some of his lyrics are quite prophetic. I am not talking about “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, that would be a very different blog post. I am referring to “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes”.
My wife, myself and our kids went to Florida for Christmas and one day we went to the pool where there was a man in really short shorts and a Hawaiian shirt covering Jimmy Buffett songs and it got me to thinking. First to make sure my shorts have enough length to them but more importantly how looking at an issue, a problem or a task from a different perspective can make a huge difference.
Being able to work while looking out over a golf course as the egrets fly by and alligators lurk in the water hazards is a huge change to the small office where I usually work. My mind has been racing on things to accomplish this upcoming quarter. A little time away from the daily grind plus a new view has really got me ready for the next few months.
Albert Einstein has been credited as saying…
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.”
It is the same idea. You want new results, you need new ideas or new goals or an influx of new people. A small change can make a huge difference. Talking to another person outside of your normal circle can also provide the new perspective.
Let us be a sounding board for you.
We can get a better understanding of your goals and then provide you with another perspective on how it may be achieved. Let’s find some time to talk in the next few weeks. Hopefully by then this song will have left my head…
It’s those changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of our running and all of our cunning
If we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane
